Trauma November 5, 20118:30 - 11:00 am Session Cost: $25
Although trauma appears inevitable in our day-to-day existence, living with the effects of it is optional. There are ways to renegotiate and reconcile events that have caused distress. This Rocking Chair round table discussion is intended to be a brief introduction to the causes, effects and symptoms of traumatic disruption to the body and mind system. Topics will also include obvious and subtle causes of trauma and how to use trauma as a pathway to wholeness and transformation. The most important focal point of this preliminary course is to instill hope and give a sense that healing is possible.
Note:
If there is enough interest in further explorations of this topic, an in-depth workshop will be offered covering the following topics:
- Trauma and its effects on the body system and psyche
- Tending effectively to trauma
- Trauma as a pathway to empowerment and transformation
Taming the Ego November 19, 20118:30 - 11:00 amSession Cost: $25
The ego is more than inflated behavior. It runs the spectrum of thinking too well of oneself to thinking too little of oneself. The ego is an idea we have about ourselves and generally, it is a false idea. The ego keeps us separate from others, has a need to prove itself, and thrives on consumption. Ego thrives on the story we tell about ourselves, loves to identify who is right and who is wrong and is in continuous struggle for survival. The ego has a way of getting in the way of relationship with ourselves and with others. This discussion will identify the antics, thoughts, and behavior of the ego. You will walk away being able to identify and tame the ego.
The above round table discussions will be held in the Rocking Chair Room at the Pueblo office.
